Worried Over Debt?

We are lucky enough to have an ex Duke whose job brings him into daily contact with those in difficulties caused by the current economic climate.   Don Campbell*   LLB   has had a number of calls from former members of the Regiment seeking advice on debt related matters. In one case he was able to stop an eviction and that individual is now getting assistance from another agency. Don is prepared to advise other Dukes who find themselves in a similar predicament.

The service Don is prepared to give is set out in his own words below. A summary of which follows:

  • He is prepared to set up and man a Help Line to assist former members of the Regiment with general information regarding debt and related matters. A Qualified Debt Counsellor will assist him.  The service is open to former members of the Dukes only. It is not open to serving members of the Yorkshire Regiment who have help and advice readily available within the unit.
  • The Help Line will be open 0900 to 1200 Monday to Friday.
  • The advice will be advisory only; he will not represent individuals on their behalf.

  • The service will be completely free

  • This service will not interfere with the workings of any other agency or association, such as the Regimental Association.   He and his firm will simply point any client in the right direction.

  • This venture will, in the first instant run for a period of three months and will therefore be reviewed   on 10 May 09.

*Don   Campbell served with the Dukes from 1974 to 1990. Having reached the rank of WO2 he left the army to study law.

WORRIED OVER DEBT?

In the current economic climate it is easy to find yourself out of work with rising debts. You feel lost, unsure where to turn for help. The red letters start arriving putting more pressure on you and your relationship with your partner becomes strained and there seems no way out. The letters turn to court proceedings and the threat of bailiffs knocking on the door. You don’t have the money for a solicitor and you don’t know what to do. You cannot meet the mortgage payments and fear losing your home. You can’t find a job quickly and the problem seems to get bigger and bigger. Finally you give up and stop opening the letters, you hide hoping it will all go away. You served your country with pride and you don’t want to be seen to be weak by seeking help.

Does that sound familiar?

Well a problem shared is a problem halved and a help line has been set up to assist ex dukes with general information and advice based on individual circumstances. The help line is staffed by a former duke, with the knowledge and experience in dealing with such matters assisted by qualified debt counsellor. So you will be talking to someone who has empathy with your past and present circumstances and the advice is FREE.

So Swallow Your Pride and give us a call on 07017 403581

The help line is open from 0900 to 1200 Monday to Friday. Any information you supply will be treated as strictly confidential
