Freedom of Barnoldswick

On Sunday 8th September, the Yorkshire Regiment, was presented with the Honorary Freedom of Barnoldswick, by Cllr Ken Hartley.

 

Local soldiers from the Duke of Wellington’s (West Riding) Regiment, the Prince of Wales’s Own Regiment of Yorkshire, the Green Howards and the East Yorkshire Regiment, all of which are antecedent regiments of the Yorkshire Regiment, who lost their lives in the two world wars are dedicated on the Barnoldswick War Memorial.

 

Prior to 1974 the town was part of the West Riding of Yorkshire. 

 

 

The Freedom Scroll was accepted on behalf of the regiment by Lt Col Iain Hallam of 4 Yorks. The standard bearers from the Dukes OCA branches were on parade.
