Ron ‘Tug’ Wilson – Funeral Notification

The Association has been advised that former RQMS Ron ‘Tug’ Wilson has passed away.

Ron initially saw service in WW2, from September 1943, until 1946,  as a member of the Royal Navy, serving aboard the Queen Elizabeth-Class Battleship HMS Valiant, with the Eastern Fleet.

Ron re-enlisted, at Castleford, in 1951 with The West Yorkshire Regiment, then rebadged into the ‘Dukes’ in November 1952, joining the Regiment in Korea.
Whilst in the ‘Dukes’ Ron served in Korea, Gibraltar, Malta, Cyprus (UNFICYP), Kenya, Germany (BAOR) and later as the RQMS at the Junior Infantry Training Battalion, in Shorncliffe.

Tug was one of the Training Sergeants in the last ‘Dukes’ platoon, with John O’Donnell, to pass out from the Depot in 1959, before returning to the 1st Bn.

 

Ron’s Funeral will take place 11:00hrs on 13th of June at:-
